Mark: Hi, it’s Mark from Top Local Lead Generation. We’re here with Sheetal Gupta of Maharani Jewels in Vancouver; she’s the diamond lady. How’re you doing today Sheetal?
Sheetal: I’m doing really well, Mark, thank you so much.
Mark: So, how do I find a jeweller I can trust?
Sheetal: That’s a great question. There’s quite a few things that I want to talk about today so I’ve actually made a check list of how you can look for a qualified jeweller so I’m actually going to take you over to the checklist right now and just share it with you point by point.
So the check list is called How to Identify a Qualified and Ethical Jeweller; of course both the qualified and ethical are equally important here.
Point number 1 is: Is your Jeweller qualified, are they gemologists and expert in their field?
Number 2: Have they worked in the industry for at least three years? The second point is in dealing with diamonds does your jeweller educate you on quality and the importance of certified diamonds; so are the diamonds GIA certified, are the diamonds inscribed? Inscribed is basically an inscription that GIA adds on each individual diamond that you’re able to identify when looking at it under a microscope.
The 3rd point is: Are you educated on how to read the inscription and identify characteristics in your diamond that place it in a certain quality category. The 3rd point is when purchasing a diamond that is then outsourced to a craftsman for custom setting does your jeweller verify that the diamond you selected is in fact the very one that has been set. So often what will happen is, is you may purchase a diamond from a jeweller but then the jeweller outsources the design aspect and sometimes an error can occur at the custom jewelry house and diamonds can be misplaced so do they have systems in place to guarantee that the diamond is still the same? Do they have Gemological equipment and a guarantee in place; that would be very, very important here. It is also important that the diamond inscription and inclusions get verified with the diamonds GIA certificate; again this would be very important in seeking out a qualified jeweller and lastly does your jeweller provide you with the workmanship guarantee should there be a manufacturing defect in the piece. So let’s say your piece was built faulty, does the jeweller have a guarantee in place that will that will allow them to fix, you know any of these defects and provide you with a brand new piece? So those are definitely some of the things to look out for.
